Homework is an important part of consolidating learning and helping establish a routine for study beyond the junior phase. Homework is introduced in Year 3 with a gradual increase in both the number of homework sessions each week and time children should spend on a task.

We recognise that a busy school will often mean that children are tired when they return home. We do not want homework to be the source of upset or to infringe upon family life. The homework schedule listed below provides a gentle introduction to the regular commitment expected in the senior school.

If there are times when a child is too tired to complete a homework or it is on the same night as an activity such as cubs, we would rather parents make a note in their child’s homework diary rather than insisting that work should be completed. An extension will always be granted allowing a child to catch up. Similarly, if homework is too difficult or too easy, parents are encouraged to make a note in the homework diary to help their son or daughter’s class teacher when setting the next challenge.
