Residential Visits

The school has a programme of outdoor activities involving all year groups. At the start of the Spring term, children in Year 6 spend a week at Towers outdoor centre near Betws-y-Coed in North Wales. The children sample a range of activities such as canoeing, climbing, abseiling, caving, orienteering, stream walking and caving. In recent years the children have also been cross-country skiing and sledging.

In May, children in Years 3-5 enjoy a residential stay at the Old Vicarage Centre on the borders of Shropshire. Children in Years 3 and 4 spend two nights in the log cabins and dormitory accommodation whilst our Year 5 pupils camp at the centre’s permanent campsite.

The children are given the opportunity to sample the high wires course, canoeing, raft-building, archery shooting, grass boarding and a challenge zone. Children in Year 5 also enjoy an evening of laser combat in the woods!

Residential stays allow the children to develop greater independence and confidence. We recognise that our residential stays may mark the first time children are away from home. We work closely with parents to ensure this is a positive and fun experience.
